Welcome to my class home page!
Visiting this page will keep you up to date about what's going on in class, assignments, homework and paper/project deadlines. I will update this weekly or more often if any changes occur to information shared in class. Make sure to look at the homework board in class, too, as this will be current information as well.
The links at left will help you navigate to the classes I teach and the other links are important school and district pages.
Homework and deadlines are of particular importance, so write them down and make sure to pick up any handouts in class if you are absent!
So, you now know where to find "stuff" -- No excuses!
Sincerely,
Cathie Boone
A note to parents of AP Composition students:
I am continuing to evaluate your students' first quarter work, so Quarter 1 grades will be updated in PowerSchool by Sunday, October 30.
To all parents:
PowerSchool
Please keep in mind the ever-changing reflections of progress when accessing your student’s grade via PowerSchool. It is best to view your student’s grade as an opportunity to discuss current progress with him or her. At any given time I likely have outstanding work that has not yet been graded and/or entered into PowerSchool, which can affect your student’s grade. Remember, too, that grades are weighted, which can skew grades in ways that may be misconstrued when placed in the context of the whole quarter, meaning that sometimes the grade may look worse than it really is. For example, if your child does not complete a 5-point assignment that counts toward participation, and that is the only grade in the grade book at the time, his/her grade may show an F briefly, only to be significantly improved once a summative grade is entered into the system. If you see a pattern of incomplete, late or missing
assignments, that should obviously be a conversation starter for you. These assignments will be designated with an L or M if they are late or missing and a C will appear if there is a comment associated with an assignment. This should indicate the reason for the grade in most cases.
As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
